Temple of Heaven...Ellie is a rock star

I am not sure what was more popular... the Temple of Heaven or Ellie; if we had to measure by Chinese tourists taking pictures, I believe Ellie would win and if you throw in the boys, it is a definite winning combo.  Many of the Chinese tourists were as interested in seeing Ellie and her blonde boys as they were to see the park and structures built in the 1400s by the Chinese Emperor to honor the god of heaven.  The massive size and popularity among the Chinese people is amazing, you can hear the national pride in our interpreter's voice as she takes us through the park and discusses the importance to the past; additionally, it is interesting to see the social importance of the park to the elderly and retired as they gather daily to exercise, play cards, play music and socialize.  The elderly above 55-60 are all retired in China on a national pension and spend time caring for the children and socializing with each other in the parks.

  1. Kirsty, this is that video I was telling you about. It's pretty somber, and may be too much for the kids to watch.

  2. Hey St Clairs! Just reminded how much the Chinese tourists loved my youngest brother (also a blonde) when we visited Niagara Falls many years ago (he was 2 ...now 23). ha Aspen is doing great! We've walked (plus 2 runs) every day.. she likes all the new smells in our neighborhood. Today we walked both dogs, pushed the stroller, and Big Ben rode his bike. We're praying for you every day!
